When I began this blog my husband (Eric) and I were ending the first chapter of a new adventure. So much has happened since then. It's a shame I didn't keep up with this blog. Never the less, God has never left our side and we have completed several chapters in the story of our new journey.
It has almost been a year since I made this blog. And life has been quite the roller coaster ride: many ups and downs and maybe even derailing at one point. We began this journey in the summer of 2010. In July Eric and I decided to give up every thing that made our lives so comfortable and live our life for the Lord. We quit our jobs and rented our newly purchased home to follow the Lord's call into the ministry. We moved to California and Eric attended AFCOE (Amazing Facts Center of Evangelism) and I began working in Sacramento for an Ophthalmologist.
We had many answered prayers along the way. For example, we didn't have the money to pay for the AFCOE program or our housing while we were there. At one point we thought that I would be staying home in Texas and that we would be apart from August to December. But our prayers were answered and we both headed out to California. Also, I needed a job. The idea of looking for a job in California with the poor economic situation that we all are still dealing with was quite frightening. But the Lord answered that prayer as well. How will we pay our mortgage for such a short period of time? You see we had no idea what was in store for us after that semester was over. But the Lord provided the answer yet again.
After Eric's graduation we traveled back home with uncertain plans for our future. We had been to visit a Church in Pendleton, OR, and after what we thought was a successful interview and visit for a Bible Worker position, we went home to spend Christmas with our families. We made our way down from Sacramento to Loma Linda, and then across the south west to our cute little home in Texas. We thought we would be moving to Oregon at the end of January, but things didn't quite work out that way.
After speaking to our pastor and the pastor of the church in Pendleton, it became clear that they were not ready to hire a bible worker and that we would not be moving to Oregon. What would we do? We had no jobs and nothing tying us down besides a mortgage that needed to be paid. What were we supposed to do with our life? What would be our next move? Christmas was over and the New Year was a few days away. Decisions needed to be made.
